http://www.transgaming.com/ ... now known as Cedega ( formally known as WineX ) is a fairly nice tool for gaming on linux. Pretty much anything that is natively OpenGL will run without a hitch... The latest 4.2 release added a good bit of support for directx9 games.
The ONLY game I'm having trouble with under cedega is Dark Age of Camelot - Catacombs. I play HL2 (with Source add-ons) under Linux with no problems.
