Completely false, your utilization of the property without paying for it is illegal. If you already own the music and are obtaining a copy in the digital domain that is not illegal. For example, being a hip hop DJ I have 3000+ records. It is a pita to burn them to all to cd so I usually use a site to download them because I already own the "license" to the music. One might argue that if you download it but don't listen to it that you have broken the law, but why would you do that. Look, artists deserve to get paid for their work

[censored] the artists, they should be glad people are enjoying their music instead of trying to cash in. If they want money, they can get real jobs.

You mean like driving a Mountain Dew truck? Your posts never cease to amaze me. It is finally clear to me. Your just jealous that the average "pop" musician makes more in a day, then you will make in a life time. So, continue to hate and keep on driving your "throwback."

Now back to your regulary scheduled program...

I download music. If I like what I hear then I buy it. I got quite tired of paying money for CD's with only three tracks. Plus, it looks tacky as hell having CD cases full of burnt CD's.

Now I hate America? That is a new one to me.

Tacky but smart .... if your car ever gets broken into and the CDs stolen, you're out a few hours' worth of work and some free-after-rebate CD-R's, versus $1K+ worth of real CDs.

(Obviously I'm talking about buying CDs and legally copying them for backup purposes, not downloading)

Your like the only person that probably does that.

Not true, all the CD's I keep in my car (not too many now that I have XM) are backups of stuff I bought or mix's.

I like to consider myself a "model" pirater, if I download an album and like it, I'll buy it. If I like a movie I'll buy it, but if there is only one track on an album that is good or it is a crappy movie, they can kiss my ass.

Bwahahaha!! We've now hit the crux of the whole music industry problem--to hell with music that *sounds* good, its how the cd *looks* that really matters!

"'CD Art' the true measure of music quality."

My music collection must really look like azz, its all 101001010100111010101 and 00101010010011101001.
