I'm trying to *legally* download music from a UK site becuase it isn't available here and am hit with "Sorry, this service is not available in your region." WTF? No wonder illegal P2P still exists.  Maybe I'm missing something in the US-based legit music download scene. buymusic.com doesn't have what I need, napster is subscription, real.com is, well, real.com, itunes is aac based and i'm not going through the hassle of download their player (or real's) for a half dozen aac songs. What other download sites are there?

I used to use WinMx... it worked pretty good and had a wide variety. It was free back then... not sure if it still is... As long as you aren't sharing the music it's not illegal to download.

LOL @ WinMX I have WinMX too and have yet to pay for any of the songs acquired through it, yet it isn't illegal? Riiight.

Wouldn't the person you get it from be sharing it?  If you didn't pay for it it just might be illegal.

my girlfriend just started using some russian pay site. she payed about 3 bucks for 22 songs. ill try to remember to ask her what its called.

That is all I use. I have a program called Shareaza that connects to a lot of different p2p networks and has a really crap BT client, but it works. BT where I get most of my movies and tv shows since everything here is dubbed into German and watching South Park in German just isn't right.
