I just said like two seconds ago it cant be tire balance at lower speeds, tires being out of balance is felt above 60mph, now like Jim said a damaged tire is a cause for the shaking as well.





Tires need to balanced on two plains. Radial and lateral. when a tire is out of balance from side to side (laterally, I think), usually from damage or wear, you can get a side to side shake. It is noticable at much lower speeds than what you may think of as a more normal out of balance shake.

Most of the time, when I feel that kind of shake on a road test, I find a front tire or tires that are worn to the steel belts on one edge only.
