In my experience, Fords generally uses Bosch O2 sensors as OEM equipment. That said, I haven't changed my Contour O2 sensors yet.

Yes, I'd pay a little extra for the Bosch sensor. Note that sometimes Bosch sensors are sold as "generic", but generally it's only because you need to re-use the old sensor's connector (the new sensor comes only with plain wires). I've done this before without problem, but I've always soldered the new electrical connections (highly recommended). If your old sensor's connector isn't in good shape, don't take chances; find a high-quality sensor that comes with a new connector.

The Bosch 02 sensor at AutoZone for $65.99 says "OE type."

There was also a Bosch "universal" 02 sensor that came up for the Contour at AutoZone for $48.99. I think that's the one you have to splice.

Neither one showed a picture at AutoZone but there were pictures on the NAPA webpage of the Bosch sensors and the OE type showed a longish wire with a box shaped connector with an open locking slot in the flat side. I plan to look at what mine has for a connector before ordering.

The AutoZone website has few if any pictures but it loads and works fast. Not like some of those others which were doggy as heck.
