Murphy's law strikes again...
Having just completed two weekends of work on our Contour and having spent several hundred dollars, it was only natural that some distracted soccer mom in a minivan should pull out in front of the car, and so that is what happened last Sunday. Although the damage did not look bad, due to the car's age and mileage, it's a no-brainer that the car will be totaled. While I'm removing the CD player and all of my wife's junk, I'd like to grab the fairly new tires that are on the rear wheels. This leads to my question: will a set of well-worn 195-75/14's fit the rear of a 96 Contour? I want to switch out the tires with the ones on the rear another vehicle. Yes, the wheels on the Contour are 14". My concern is whether the 195-75 tires will fit under the rear strut perch of the contour. The tires I want to put on the Contour have only 1/4" tread left in the center, and nearly none on the edges, so it's normally a tight fit, they should go on ok. I want to make sure they fit the Contour before I pay to have them mounted on the Contour's wheels.
Thanks!
