How difficult, and how long does it actually take to put the shifter in? Got a 2000 csvt.

Its so easy to do it, but if you've never done it or taken apart the shifter assembly, it will take alot longer.
My first time, when I installed it on my car, it took me a while, a couple hours because I had no idea what I was doing and was trying to follow crappy directions. My second time I installed it was in my friends SVT and it only took about 20 mins.

Not long, B&M shifters come with somewhat of directions I guess....But if you have absolutely no clue how or what to do, just take it to get it done.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

Perhaps you accedently removed the centering spring? I remember back in the day many people actually said that this was the way to go and that it felt better without the centering spring.
As for the lock out, I removed mine long before I had the B&M. I hate the stupid thing.
