I know the B&M Short Shifter is a "Direct Bolt-On" for the SVT Contour. Does it have the reverse Lock-out like the stock shifter? Or not? Any Information is appreciated.

Yes, the B&M shifter does have a reverse lock-out on it. But, I dont really see a use for, I have a B&M, and I disabled the reverse lock-out. But thats just me. But otherwise, yeah it does.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

The reverse lock out on B&M doesnt work at all for all E0's (or at least most from what I know). The shifter assembly is slighty different from 98.5-00 from what I understand. But it will work perfect with the additional of one small washer. Thats all it took to make mine work. It just needs to be placed under the little metal corner piece on the shifter base. It the piece that the shifter is supposed to hit if you try to shift to reverse without lifting the lockout. For some reason, on E0's, the metal corner on the base is too low and doesnt make contact but if you place a washer under it, it works fine.

It's basically there just in case I start day-dreaming and think I have a 6-speed. Which hasn't happened yet, but you never know. Thanks for the info everyone.

Goonz, it unbelievably easy to get reverse lockout to work on a E0. Takes a total of 2 mins to install the washer that makes it work. Hardest part of it is finding the right washer to fit.
I like my reverse lockout too. Plus I figured since it came with the car, I wanted to leave it that way.

What does the reverse lockout do? (my old Contour was an auto)
There is a safety mechanism that prevents you from going from 5th to reverse still on the car (probly built into the tranny).
