Just sent this to Ann Coulter via a conservative book site:
"I just saw, thanks to the Internet, which we Canadians are clearly lucky to have, your views which you were spouting on Fox News about Canada.
Yes, we are so lucky to live with you. After all, you are so big and powerful that your country can't handle a scrabbling band of insurgents in that "backwards" country of Iraq. Mission accomplished, indeedy-do.
And your soooo mighty country had such an easy time of Vietnam as well. Yes, you ended that evil socialist regime, didn't you. Yes, you're so big and strong, of course you did.
Actually, now that I think of it, back in 1812, didn't we hand you your collective G.W.s? Naw, couldn't have happened. You are so high and mighty, and we are so weak.
I am being facetious to make a point here. For someone that, if I recall correctly, went to Harvard, I would think that you would have a more educated world view. But it would seem that you don't have an educated world view, just one that makes you a lot of money writing right wing books, and gets you on Fox News (which is as fair and balanced as Al Jazeera, but I digress).
The problem is, as an outsider from waek lil' ol' Canada, I have noticed a few key points about conservative governments:
- they always are bigger than the government before them, despite being led by those in favour of "smaller" government;
- they often run massive deficits (happens here too);
- they often enter ill-advised conflicts; and
- it often takes seeming aeons to repair your relationships with other nations.
It's time you woke up and smelled the coffee, Miss Coulter. There might just be a better way for you to express your opinions. You are proud to be an American -- that's fine. But I am proud to be a Canadian, and you have insulted the vast majority of proud sovereign nation with your generalizations. Carolyn Parrish may have done the same thing, but two wrongs don't make a right.
I invite you to visit Canada sometime. Perhaps then you will see what living in peace, with little fear, a strong economy and no one threatening your nation is like."
