Ok, i've searched high and low and couldn't find the answers I was looking for.

I want to get my exhaust setup right and do it all at once. I can afford the Y-pipe and either the Bassani or Brullen cat-back. My questions are:

Will this combo hurt or help my performance and by how much (estimate)? BTW, my next mod will probably be the 75mm Pro-Flow.

Will I have a buttload of drone?

Does the y-pipe w/o cat perform better than with the high flow cat? basicly, what differences am i going to notice between the two?

Anyone hear the bassani vs. the brullen? Which sounds better? (my search results seemed to be in favor of the brullen)

thanks guys, and keep your wheels on the ground.

Ok Y-pipe w/o cat is 12hp 10 lbs of torq while w/cat its 10hp and 8lbs of torq. Keep in mind this is AT THE WHEELS.

I have never heard Brullen so I can't give you any advice here but everytime I hear the Bassani I nearly wet my pants (Very intimidating!!) eek

Drone may be an issue but if you want a quiet exhaust you should go with Borla.

As far as I know Bassani gives you 8hp @ the wheels.

These 2 mods do not hurt the performance at all.

My Y pipe and Bassani drones like mad at 3-4k RPM. I may not be a good comparison, you know, apples to oranges and all.

Have you heard if the Y-pipe is louder without the cat? I guess my concern is growing about drone... I'd love to get the bassani, but since it sounds like it drones so much from 3-4k RPM (freeway driving!!) I might have to go with the brullen or borla; but I want the performance! I haven't heard anyone say anything possitive about the borla's performance though either so it's making me lean towards the brullen then. that is, unless there's a way to get the drone out when you combine the y-pipe + bassani...

As far as I know Borla and bassani are pretty equal as far as performance goes. Just one is louder than the other. I think (don't quote me on this cause I ain't said shiz) that the Bassani produse 1-2 hp more while the Borla nets 1-2 lbs of more torq.

I emailed Performance Fords a few weeks back to inquire about the Brullen. I am in the same boat as you. Haven't done anything yet and am looking to do the y-pipe. My concern is that the sho shop y-pipe and Brullen may actually interfere with each other's gains. I think the Brullen was developed with everything else in the exhaust stream being stock.

Anyway, they told me that they are curerntly prototyping their own y-pipe for the Brullen. Might be worth holding off on a sho shop pipe to see what their results are with the Brullen.

flyerst is right...we are working on something, very unique. We have been testing it for about a month and more info will be available shorlty.

Getting to that drone discussion - for the BRULLEN systems, visit our site HERE for a description of hte difference between the quiet and loud system.

The loud system on my car did drone quite a bit similar to the Bassani and I did have a custom y-pipe similar in design to the sho shop one.

Once I installed our new prototype downpipe, you would not believe the difference in cabin noise. No more drone! The car is a lot quieter inside and much more bearable. Outside, the loud system still makes its presence known.

For those of you with annoying drone and looking to get an aftermarket downpipe you may want to hold off until we finish testing.

I did dyno it and I did see gains on top of the gains of my old y-pipe. We are looking to test it another contour with a stock y-pipe so as to get more exact numbers for enthusiast to compare. Hopefully we will have completed our testing sometime in february. If you have questions please start a new tread or email me at sales@performancefords.com . Please note that I will not be giving out any specific design details and/or dyno data until we have finished testing.
