I recently installed a new headunit in my svt and after doing so i noticed that my tail lamps and my gauges face lights dont work. All the fuses are good and the tail lights go on when you hit the brakes, just not by themselves. I believe it has something to do with the aftermarket Alpine alarm the previous owner installed b/c when i hit the arm button on my remote, the tail lights do blink as well as the gauge faces... Anyone have any ideas????

doubt its the alarm, double check your wiring. do a quick test by pulling the radio and unplugging it. See if your lights work then.

Same thing happened to me about two weeks ago, drop your dash and unscrew your head light switch... check the connector for corrosion. If it's corrided clean with some electrical contact cleaner and a tiny wire brush. If there is know corrosion you might need a new switch. Let me know if this solves your problem.

Yes, once you drop the dash... there is 2 screws on the bottom of it holding it in place, remove those screws and pull it out firmly.

checked the headlight switch and it was making good contact. Was not that... i really think its something alarm related since when i arm the alarm everything that doesnt normally work (tail lights, gauge lights, heat/air control lights) all blink! Any other ideas? Thanks

if it was installed correctly it shouldn't be cuaseing problems cuase it should just be tapped in. i still think its your headlight switch. and what you describe almost confirms that idea since when the switch is out of the loop it works when you use the switch it doesn't..

Get a new switch
