The reason you likely paid so much for installation was the fact that you didnt buy from them. most shops will add a pretty hefty "bench testing" fee if you bring your own stuff for them to install.
What install shop did you go to and where?





incorrect. the avic-n1 sets the power antean lead up at all times, the only time the antenna is down is when the car is off or the faceplate is removed. Even if the unit is off and the ignition is on, it remains up.

This is my only quam with the AVIC-n1 yet.

Good unit overall. I think im gonna buy a cd changer so i dont need to heep removing the CD to put in the nav disk.

BTW: paid $932 brand new with voice command, back seat remote, and extention cable. (all retail packaging and professionaly installed myself).
