ok how about this... would it be tons easier to just do a 2000 contour engine vs a 3L? I am at the point where I dont care about performance I am happy with the contours abilities... maybe I'll throw on a torsen and headers or something I just no longer want to deal with the 3L lol.. I am a FLIP FLOPPA. Is it a ton easier to just put in a new 2.5 the 97 cant be too differant than a 2000 right? I know the differant 3L's after weeks of research but I guess I never thought about the differing 2.5's am I going to run into just as much work as swapping a full 3.0L? I personally wouldnt think so but uhh.. help im rambling. any help is appreciated. -Jesse

Well you have to figure out what the hell it is you want. If you're talking a FULL 2000 Contour motor swap, then think again. There are more differences than you think, ie: returnless vs return style, vacuum IMRC v Electric.. If your motor is blown, then a straight block swap should be no problem, or you could just rebuild the block you have for even less, depending on damage. But then again, you say you already have the 3L? I'd think for $750, you could find someone to do the modification to the fuel rail and any other misc mods that you/your brother can't do. But don't think you're going to have this done in a matter of 2-3 days.. Best bet is to have your 3L prep'd and all fuel rail issues figured out before swapping, so you can pull the 2.5L and get to installing the 3L without having much downtime with missing parts.

A bad idea for the most part. Even with it professionally done it still risks high pressure leaking.
By far your best bet is to fabricate the lines & connections. Though with the older fuel rail that may be harder then it sounds.
Fuel injection hose is cheap and the fittings should not cost much.
Plus it is much safer then risking a high pressure fuel leak on top of the hot engine.
Being a 95 you are going to have to fabricate everything anyway. (old fuel rail & injectors)
What did you do about the IMRC wiring?
Have you figured out a way to keep the PCM from tripped a CEL?
95 is pretty alien to me. Vacuum operated with, what I would guess to be, trip switches to the OBD-I PCM.
I would expect you will have to make some kind of rpm relay switch to fool the PCM into thinking the IMRC is operating normally.
Hey at least you don't have to fool it into thinking the IMRC box is there because it never was...
