In Massachusetts the minimum required (compulsory) insurance will cost the same regardless of what company you use, period. Optional coverages cost the same but you have the choice to pay more for more coverage.
In Mass, compulsory limits are as follows: Personal Injury Protection: $8000 Property damage: $5000 Bodily Injury: $20,000per person/$40,000max per claim Underinsured: $20,000per person/$40,000max per claim Uninsured: $20,000per person/$40,000max per claim Glass: No Deductible.
I carry: Personal Injury Protection: $8000 Property damage: $100,000 Bodily Injury: $100,000per person/$300,000max per claim Underinsured: $100,000per person/$300,000max per claim Uninsured: $100,000per person/$300,000max per claim Collision: $500 Deductible Rental: $30per day/$900 max per claim Tow: $50 Glass: No Deductible.
If you live in Boston and claim to live in Townsend and the insurance company finds out you are not being honest with where your vehicle is "while you sleep", your claims might be denied.
If you say that your father claims that he is the operator of a car and he is a step 9, but the car is actually yours and your a step 20, your claims can be denied.
If you provide any kind of false information that increases the risk to the insurance company it is fraud. Fraud in Massachusetts is now a FELONY. Massachusetts is really starting to crack down. The State has task forces in several cities working with local police, state police, FBI and people like me working to identify fraudulent claims.
Please everyone..be honest with your insurance company. We all pay alot for insurance and you NEED it to be there for you when it is needed. There are so many people out there looking to get into accidents to MAKE money and you need to protect yourself.

well looking at what you posted ryan, i am prety close tot he minimums already. SVT: Injury to others: 20000/40000 personal injury:8000 uninsured:20000/40000 damage to someone elses property:100000 optional bodily injury:20000/40000 collision:500 deductable comprehensive: 500 deductable/no glass deductable underinsured:20000/40000
taurus is the exact same ecsept no optional bodily injury and no collision
so it looks like i could really only lower the damage to someone elses property. bah!
and i am at a step 10.

Tell me about it. My house got robbed a few weeks ago and we lost somewhere between 6000-7000k worth of goods and cash, the least of was certainly NOT my brand new Fender bass that cost me 1300. But they are treating us like we're the criminals, even though the house next door got robbed as well! We are NOT cheating the insurance company, but suffice it to say, we are not getting everything back. They only cover $500 of cash (total was around 1600 IIRC) and there is a 500 deductable. So all told, we'll probably be out $2000.
As far as car insurace goes, I live in Dracut and now pay ~$1200 for full coverage on my 6. It was as low as $990, but a combination of 3 extra poins (I WAS at a 9 before this summer, gotta slow down!) and increased rates shot that one right up. I go through Commerce, but my agent is Fred C. Church. They have treated us extremely well in accidents and a theft of my bros truck many years ago. I would recommend them. Their office is right across from Lowell High, adjacent to Boarding House Park. Not sure if it would be any cheaper though. I know they also carry Safety Insurance as well, but I remember that actually being more expensive.

liberty is our insurance at work (ups) so i called them to see about a quote figuring i can get a ups discount or something. they quoted me double for my svt. over 4k per year when i was paying 2100/year with amica. i turned 26 and amica dropped to like 1200/year. the lady didnt even know what to say when i told her what i pay with amica. i've been very very satisfied with amica and the service they've given me.

damn, that's insane. I pay just under 900 for my SVT - full coverage. But I need to call to cancel the coverage - at least temporarily.

I have to agree with Hugo about Amica, I pay about 1600, for everything but collision on the mystique, and I might be able to cut that back a bit more now that I don't have to worry about it in a school parking lot as for insurance for two cars, same coverage as I have now with the mystique and full coverage on the tour, which now by they way is completely mine as a graduation gift, I think amica quoted me around 2200 so so for both cars, now other companies wanted a bit less then that but it was only for six months , thats right, all other companies I have looked into, All State, State Farm, Progressive, etc want near double what I pay now and I know Amica has service second to none

i have not heard a bad thing about amica. i hear rave reviews from friends in the industry. the next cheapest was allstate and i refuse to use allstate. they can pay me and i'd refuse them. so amica is very reasonably priced for the service they give me. geico 10% is a joke. progressive wasnt any better. so its amica for me for the forseeable future.

I've heard great things about Amica.
I had Liberty Mutual for years, and they were great up until last year. They started charging me for "missed or late payments" even though I was making my payments at the exact same time every month. I went with Commerce, and saved $40/month immediately.
