Hey whats up guys. I view the board a lot but havent posted in a long time.
I'm not to suprised by what I just read. I am curious if anything was mentioned specifically about their service. I have been very upset with the service I have been getting since I have bough my SVT.

I'm not surprised and this is confirmation of a growing concern I've had. Add this to the F-150, the Explorer fiasco etc. etc. To make matters worse, I think dealer quality has slid too. My reaction: Our household fleet was four Fords (Like many here I've been a Ford man). I traded one out recently for an import. Love the import car, no quality issues and the dealer is a refreshing change. Over next 12 -18 months I'll replace two of the three remaining Fords, again with imports. I feel rotten about this, but not as stongly as I feel betrayed by Ford. Too bad Quality is Job 1 has ended being nothing more than a passing phase.

I have a common phrase "Ford Quality, job 10"
Making profit, and piss poor dealers seems to rank pretty high !!!
However, I have to give them props for giving Jag a rebirth. I just love the X-type. They can't possibly be having the same problems with Jaguars as we do with our cars. Granted we pay less, but where do the quality wowes stop ???

I will never own another Ford product again! It would take some major reorganizing in order for me to buy another Ford.
I am sorry, I am sticking with Japanese vehicles until our domestic car companies get their act together!

I basically laughed at the salesguy at Dahl when he tried to charge me a $350 "SVT franchise fee" above the x-plan price and went and bought my Contour at Reynolds. The guy at Reynolds (Ron Peacock) was ok, but they tried to give me grief when I wanted my hood repainted because of the crease above the latch. Finally got it painted for free though...haven't been back since.

No surprise here. I've heard of disposable diapers that are more problem-free and reliable than the majority of vehicles that Ford has bombed dealerships with in the past 5-10 years (the 99 'Tour SVT is my 3rd and LAST Ford, for a number of reasons).
It's a shame, too, since J Mays and Co. seem to really have a good handle on vehicle aestetics and body design (in comparison with just about any non-Corvette vehicle that GM belches out). It's the longevity of engine/drivetrain and ext/int components that ROYALLY suck fumes at Ford, IMHO. And it's not just on the Contour, either.
Here's to hoping some Ford execs see the article and then having the foresight to know what to do with the perceptions and realities contained within.

I'm not a bit suprised to see that Ford is supposed to be last in quality . Out of the 2 dozen cars I've owned , this SVT is one of the most dissapointing rides I've owned (quality-wise) . Going from owning a first model year Contour to owning a last model year Contour really shows how they gave up on quality as they went along . I'll just say that I'm VERY dissapointed in this car . VERY dissapointed . I'm quickly losing the thrill of owning my Contour ... and I will NEVER be buying another new Ford ...

Seems like immediate recalls are part of every new model rollout with Ford. Anyone want to give me odds on what the first recall will be for the new T-Bird?

This post is kind of a bummer....I've driven Fords for years since my dad used to do taxes for a dealership. So it's really sad for me that I just got rid of my Contour on Monday (water pump failure caused mass engine trauma). I loved that car and took such awesome care of it...unfortunately the quality was awful, the dealers worse and the extended warranty a joke.
I wanted something fun to drive, four door, and stick shift in the $18k range - can you say import? None of the domestic companys make a car in that profile and even if they did I'd be taking a big gamble with quality again. Pathetic.
