Exactly dude, those people, or kids that ask what you drive, and they laugh cuz its a contour....forgetting its an svt. And when really all there driving is an 89' POS that there parents used to own.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

I can't help but laugh when people make fun of my car b/c they all seem to drive GM! I really don't like GM My friend has an '04 Cavalier and thought he could smoke me cause he's got "good acceleration". Bwahahahaha. I beat him by a fender and he still denies it. Too bad it was only us two...

GM guys compliment my car because it's not rice and I know it's not the fastest out there, so they give a little respect.
Import owners on the other hand hate it immediately.

She came back the next day and goes "Now I know why you love that car. That thing can MOVE" Apparently she showed some kind in a Honda Civic what was up the night before. She has never made fun of my car since, but she does call me Mad Maxine when I am driving. Heheheheh
She said a zetec can move!?!?!?
You also have to remember, she'd been driving around in some old 80s model Toyota Corolla POS that could barely move. Actually, since we take good care of my car, it DOES get moving pretty quick when we make it go.

Wow. You're snooty about "SVT," and embarassed that you drive a Ford. The issue isn't "the haters," it's your own insecurities.
im not snooty about svt, and also not embarassed about ford, ever heard of jumping to conclusions? every car ive ever owned and been proud of is a ford, im a ford boy born and raised. next time dont get so defensive, i wasnt talking down on non-svt contours, in fact ive bene looking for one, just because i like the cars that they are. geez, chill out dude
Read your own post. Your response to the Contour haters is "It's not a Contour, it's an SVT." That, my friend, is a nose full of snoot. It doesn't bother me, or insult me, but I felt it was worth noting.
I guess I should have used "Contour" in place of "Ford."
And your inflamed response only proves my point.
Defensive? The Contour speaks for itself. I don't defend it. It's a cheap Ford, with world-class handling.
I've got a friend at work who used to own an SN95 Cobra. He knows how much I love these cars, so he tries to get under my skin with "Hey, it's just a Contour!" If only he knew. Anyway, it's just a little joke, and people who are around long enough understand the true character of this car. Otherwise, it's like my little secret, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Function before fashion.

yeah, when i bought 98 SVT E0, my one buddy who has a 95 stang gt laughed at me....so ilet him take it out and he fellin love with it, it even won him 10 bucks in a race. He raced a modded Mustang SVO and smoked it.

while i tend to believe your friend fell in love after driving your car, especially since he owns a stang, and isn't used to a world calss handling car,but i do have a hard time believing he beat a modded mustang svo in it though...especially since a STOCK svo has a 200 hp turbo 4 cylinder...that is good enough to run 0-60 in 6.8 secs, and 15.1 @91mph in the 1/4,and if its modded then it would be even faster than that...

And we all know that "modded" means the same thing for every car
You have to take these words into context. For one, "modded" could mean a K&N filter. And we're also talking about an SVO Mustang, which were made way back when, in 1984-86.5 or so? So he beat a car that's damn near 20 years old and in who knows what kind of condition. Then there's the driver behind the wheel. Was he 16 with no race experience? Did he spin the tires? Was the race from 0-60 or a 1/4 mile? Was it even a drag race and not just a kickdown? Not to defend the Contour for the fact that I have one, but I've beat a LOT more cars than I should, due to the fact that I know how to get every bit of performance out of what I have to work with, where as 90% of the time, the other guy just has no clue.
