If you are looking to spend less than 2k than your car is going to have one or more of the following qualaties:
-Old
-High mileage
-Bad condition
-Bad depreciation (usually unreliable makes or models, but not always)
-Bad condition

I'd also add a late model Escort to the list, much of the same as the prizm. You might want to note that the Prizm and the Escort actually have a fraction MORE headroom then the contour/mystique

Prism's are great! I had one (92) and it ran super until a woman ran a read light and I hit her. Her minivan had to be towed away and I drove my car for another 2 months after it. The headlight that was hit still worked!! I was up to 150K on it with practically no problems on it what so ever. There was lots of room in it too. My freind has a newer one and it runs almost like new at 87K...remember they are the same car as a corolla. Oh yeah, my brother has one and it is at 180K but starting to rust out. Maybe you could find a cheaper Celica. Buick Regals are very very good too....maybe look into a Gran Sport version. Supercharged =

I'm 6'2 and fit just fine in a Prizm when it was a tint shop loaner...
