Not much help, I know, but we on the MEG site this side of the Atlantic have had a post running for a couple of weeks re: petrol mileage.
Most of us running stock V6s, ST24s (170bhp) and ST200s (200bhp) are getting about 28-31 mpg.
I can't think of anything that would cause your consumption to be so high.
Set fire to it and make an insurance claim.
Then buy another one.

BTW what are these 'gallon' things? I read somewhere that they're like litres but bigger...

Just FYI, a heads up on the 'gallon' UK 8 pints, US: not (I believe it is 6?) So the calcs need to be clear as to miles per which gallon.

BTW, I'm in Canada, buy gas in litres, drive in kilometers. You could all use those Eurotype measures, km/10L, or l/110km, but WTF, I still work mine out in miles per gallon!!

You beat me to it.

I saw the 28-31mpg and did a double take.

But that's (using US gallons) 23-25mpg for us. (1 US = .83 UK)

My 2.5L was 24mpg mixed and 28-30mpg highway. Lead foot and redline all the time.

My 3L is not much worse even with my lead foot and now mostly city driving. It's about 21-22mpg. It sees 27-28mpg on the highway. That's right about the EPA rating for the 2.5L
