- Front fender is slightly off from door
- Scuff passager front bumper
- Crack Passager Fog Light
- Newer Passager Headlight
- Scuff SideSkirt
- Dent unstraighted Under side skirt
- Crappy Repaint

And yes the engine does run fine, except for the fact the EGR ways were clogged tight which I fixed, and the fact that the gas mileage is crap.

I was turning over drive on and off as I go to school and work. There is litterally a drop in elevation of 330 feet if I remember right. I was using overdrive so the car didn't shift 10 times and stayed steadyer (real word?) in RPM.

How or were do I get o2 sensors checked?

I believe carfax has a guarantee about just such a thing, email them about it.

He means hook an odb-II scanner up to it after it's warmed up (closed loop). Most auto parts stores will scan for error codes for free... they might let you check the sensors for free too.

The carfax guarentee is that if their report is incomplete (ie missing obvious info) you can get a full refund for the report.

Check your rear brakes and make sure the wheels turn when it is off the ground. They could be sticking.

This may sound dumb, but lets start at the very basics. How are you calculating your gas mileage? I ask because a lot of people that claim they are getting poor mileage actually aren't calculating it correctly. One way to do it(if you haven't been)is to zero your trip meter at fill up. At the next fill up divide the gallons used to fill your tank by the miles you drove since your last fill up. You should get a close average MPG for the previous tank full. Some people calculate mileage by looking at their gas gauge(don't laugh, my father was one of them and he's an accountant!)which is obviously the wrong way. I get on average with the many V6 Contours I've had 23-28 MPG with an auto and 28-31 MPg with a 5spd.

lol no I know how to calc gas mileage. If you want I can give you all the miles and gallons from almost all the gas I have put in the car for the last 3 months. The best it has ever had when I had it was just over 19 mpg. That was when I drove around 45 (highway) miles to and back from autozone to get my CEL code when the EGR passages were clogged.

And what did you make make sure my rear tires spin? Front wheel drive or did I miss that?

If you're rear brakes were draging you'd most likely have warped the drum or rotor(depending on what you have)by now. Outside temp has a lot to do with gas mileage as does stop and go trafic and long idling. At this point I would start with a fresh set of plugs. It can't hurt. Don't ASSume that the sparkplugs were changed just because the wires were. After all, these cars were marketed as no tune up needed until 100K miles. Also, the old plugs should tell you if the car is running rich or not. At the very least you should pull them and check every one of them for gap and color.

I'm gonna check into getting the o2 sensor checked. I beleive Autozone does this, do they not? If not I'll find someone local who can. And as soon as I get the money together I'll get the plugs changed.

I've been having the same problem recently. I've been averaging 20mpg mixed city/highway driving. Within the past 4 months the plugs have been changed, the UIM and LIM were taken off and cleaned very well. I too have recently reinstalled my stock airbox and at that time cleaned the MAF and IAT sensors. I also checked all the plugs for a gapping issue without finding one. I am now trying different brands and grads of gas from 91 to 94 hoping that it is a fuel issue. For reference the car only has 50,000Km on it and in the spring was easily getting 25-30mpg. For me the problem has been persisting since mid summer.

#1) he's definitely right, your parking brakes cables could be siezed like mine were, luckily mine weren't engaged.. jack the car up and see if it rotates freely. That would be #1 suspect, it would eat up a lot of your mileage like him and figols says.
or could be your front or rear caliper piston stuck and siezed. put your car in neutral, put parking brakes on, make sure you have chocks or something holding the car in place, and jack up and check the front to see if it spins freely. I've had that happen to me before also.

#2) O2 sensor, if the obd scan doesn't work (autozone or murrays you can buy/return for free) you can check the Voltage between the 2 pins using a voltmeter.. has to be in some sort of range.. i'll try to look up manual later and see what that volage is. should be reading certain voltage warmed up, and with gas pressed. correct me if i'm wrong, i've done this on my other cars.

#3) check your air filter. does your car idle fine? Is idle set too high? don't know if the Auto trans. comes with RPM... but idle could be set too high and will get worse in cold weather. what is RPM reading fully warmed up.

#4) check your tire pressure all around.. that could affect mileage also.

#5) you don't have a big wind-obstructing Wing on the trunk do you? just kidding..

let us know what happens, i'm sure someone can figure it out. i get ~24.8mpg consistently on my svt... i wish i could break 25.
