Awesome vid....
Too bad to say that today...IMHO...only JPM and Kimmi would have the tenacity to go at each other like that and not let up. Every other driver would wait and attempt a pass "in the pits..."

On a slightly different note, Johnny Herbet is, in my opinion, one of the most highly underrated drivers of modern times.
He was touted as the best thing since sliced bread when he was younger. He had an extremely unfortunate accident that resulted in one of his feet being nearly cut off. After that he continued racing even though he practically could not heel-toe. Further misfortune hit him when he signed to Team Lotus (like selling your soul ... life contract). He still managed to sneak up to 10 or 8's, occaisionally stealing points. Rather impressive for a guy who has stiff feet and was driving a car that would last maybe 20 laps.

We've got the cheapest cable we can stand, which means no speed tv (or whatever the car channel is), and we don't watch a hell of a lot of TV... definitely not enough F1 to follow properly. I'll catch a race once in a blue moon, but, again, not enough to really follow.
Personally, I wish we'd get some rally stuff here. That's always piqued my interest.

Mostly F1 on Speed? Ha! All they show is NASCAR or Windtunnel. If they want to show that much NASCAR, make a speed2 (or just NASCAR), HBO did it. Sean P.S. I know what you mean

Well, in my opinion a sport has to conform to the following rules: 1.) The results must not be subjective. (Auto Racing passes) 2.) The competitor must provide a majority of the force provided to complete the competition. (Auto Racing fails, the engine is providing the propulsion) 3.) There must be an opponent with reactive defense. (Racing passes) If one requirement fails, it is a competitive physical activity. If there is no strenous physical activity, it's a game. This definition was the result of a discussion of a number of people I work and go to school with. THere were some concessions that had to be made. I would like to qualify boxing as a sport, but there are judges that subjectively rate the performance so it falls into the same category as figure skating.
