hmmm let's see...aluminized steel piping w/ no cat vs. full stainless w/ a high-flow cat from one of the most well-respected names in the high-flow cat business. apples and oranges there, my friend. not knocking SHOshop's stuff - they have a lot more options w/ theirs (aluminized vs. stainless, cat vs. no cat), and even w/ the stainless/high-flow cat setup @ $350 they're a lot cheaper regardless - but the RT setup has a lot going it as well. the price puts it out of the league of a lot of people, but sometimes you pay for what you get. sometimes you don't - just gotta decide for yourself and pick out the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.

i'm not defending their price - i've said from day one that it was overpriced and that i wouldn't have bought one if i hadn't gotten the deal that i did - but then i'd much rather have the RT piece than the shoshop one. i'd hate to see such a quality part be disregarded so quickly based solely on price. for that matter, has anyone checked into resellers for better prices? i know that if i ordered the borla exhaust from my RSX direct from borla i'd pay $800 but can get it from summit racing for $600. factory-direct prices are usually way high - guess they don't want to undercut their distributors (if they have any).

there are people who cobble together custom exhaust systems for not a lot of money that CAN (and often do) look and sound as good and perform as well as a pre-engineered off-the-self borla/bassani/etc., but there will also always people willing to pay a little extra for the name, reputation, warranty, and known quality of a so-called "name brand". all that stuff may not be "worth it" to some people but it is to some (that's why i went w/ the borla exhaust and why i waited on the RT y-pipe).

just trying to provide a different viewpoint, not stir the pot or anything... laugh
