I had been CEL free for a while, was about to get car past inspection. Then tire went out so I had to put a spare on.

After driving a day with the spare, the check engine light came on. Would that be because of the spare, ie. having an odd sized tire on the car?

Its on the front right (passenger side) of my 99 manual SVT with ABS.

I can get the code read, but was wondering in the meantime.

If the rolling circumference of the axle pair if different you are probably getting an ABS code. No biggie, just get the same tire again or replace both fronts.

So the ABS code makes the CEL go on? I assume that means it won't pass Atlanta clean air inspection. They say CEL going on no matter what makes it fail.

I've been trying to get it cleared, right now i'm well past the 30 days and still driving without plates.

But at least if that's the reason its just because of the tires which I've been trying to replace.

a abs code would make the abs light turn on

not all cel codes are emissions related also

If it is actually the CEL, get it checked.

Got new tires, took the battery terminal off and the Check Engine Light has been off ever since. So it appears driving on the spare in my svt made the CEL go on.
