I honestly don't know what the big deal is... I never learned anything from the school teachings... we always made fun of the pictures... I was in 5th grade! I learned more from friends and family than anyone else.

Yeah, all I remember learning that was new to me was that you could get warts on your pecker, which scared the living hell out of me. I had warts on my hand in 5th grade, and the dermatoligist froze them off with liquid nitrogen. I didn't want that to happen below the belt!!
Otherwise, I pretty much remember that we all knew what rubbers were already, and yep, we made fun of the pictures.
The schools should have sex ed, but the schools need to teach some morality here, too. Kids shouldn't be screwing everything that moves, at least for their emotional health.

I kind of skipped around the thread, but does anyone see a problem with schools informing students that no sex is the safest sex? As long as that is included in safe-sex education, I'm happy.

I thought it was pretty funny. 
Teach the consequences. I personally think it's appropriate for schools take a realistic approach to safe sex (i.e. they're probably doin' the hibbity dibity, so let's at least provide some education about it) if the parents aren't stepping up and doing it on their own.
Perhaps it should be a community based decision?

That's what I support. Part of any comprehensive sex-ed curriculum includes mention that abstinence is the only 100% effective solution. This is not what Bush is promoting.
Davo, I'm still curious what Bush's motive is for doing this, if it's not morality or religion.
