Yes, the 02 sensor "should" have been easy, but it was so tight and welded in place that the socket slipped and rounded the hex. THATS when the real fun began.

The only local shop is across from a Ford dealership (rural area) and they would know this PITA job for what it is as they mostly work on Fords....

I've done all my own work for years and I will do the PCV valve if need be, but I think that I shall put it off for now as the Contour is NOT mechanic friendly (unless you're getting $60/hour working on it -- then it's a dream machine).
