Did anyone look in the scheduled maintince guide in the glove compartment? It says that the Ford dealer will replace the PCV valve on all 4-cylinder cars at 60,000 miles free of charge, except ones in California? What is the deal behind that? And is it actually 100% free???

Now why would you let a DEALER touch your car for a $3 part?

Common, it is free. Which would you rather do- swear and pull and yell to get the PCV valve out, or sit in a waiting room, drinking coffee and reading a magizine? I like working on my car too, but even I have my limits.

Do you ever get the feeling that you want to just rip out those darn rubber hoses and install some thick PVC plastic?

I just did plugs, wires, thermostat, temp sender, and tranny fluid. I skipped the PCV cause they buried the *&^%#$ thing!
If you can get it done free - do it!

Lol, I think I will. Free is free, and if the govt is going to force Ford to do it, why not?

Good grief!
I bought a new PCV valve and was going to replace it, but now I see that it is a MAJOR project!
My Contour has 162,000 miles and I don't know if it's ever been replaced.....
Idles crappy....low...like it wants to die.....IAC or PCV?
I just replaced the 02 sensor (a REAL nightmare: search word "HELL") and the heat shield is off, but I might just skip the PCV valve for now...
Any advice on this?
How many people have ever replaced one????
The way they buried the PCV those Ford engineers should be SHOT!
