Been reading that many go to the more popular size of 225/45/16 or 225/50/16 (with many saying on the 225 the 50 for sidewall gets to large and makes the car drive more bloated).

My 99 CSVT has koni shocks with eibachs so its lowered.

1. will the 225 rub on the lowered car. Also lowering the car seems to have hurt the turning radius will wider make it worse?

2. the 1010tires website says that the 225 is for a 17 inch and above rim, ours is 16 1/2.

3. Does the wider significantly lower gas mileage.

I'm fine with the 215/50/16's but the selection is not great, I don't want Kumhos

I have yokohama 225/45/16 with Koni and Roush lowering springs. Never ever rubbed with this setup.
The tires are meant for 7" wide wheel, but I figured the gov't wouldn't notice if I put 'em on a 6.5" wheel.
I still get 30+ mpg on the highways.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. The Koni's do make the car feel things in the road. does the 225/45/16 impact that. Your car looks great. Are those the 225/45/16 on the original and new rims?
