Damn!I was hoping to see my 'tour when you mentioned '96! Mine was taken in '95 anyway but still- it would have been amazing (Because I don't remember my neighbor having this until I noticed he was selling it just last year).

That's interesting.

Now I sent it to my mother to freak her out with the additon words "they've been spying on us."

The yellow circle is my house (the pin is off by a couple of houses)
That black dot in my back yard is my Koi pond.

That's a pretty cool website!

Hmmm. What about all those Harleys on the driveway? Wife having a little Tupperware party?

There you go, that is real satellite imagery:

"San Diego (Downtown) Mar - 2002 3 Inch "

The "3 Inch" is the resolution. And this is still just a commercial product

Damn, most of the others on here show up small. Here's my house from the Terra Server link I originally posted. The pic was taken in 2002. My house is the one near the center with the big white fence along the perimeter of the back yard. Mystique is in the garage.

The list you're quoting from is closely related to the list found over at AirPhotoUSA, and those commercially available 3-inch resolutions you're seeing are aerial photographs, not satellite imagery.

Currently, the highest commercially-available resolution available in visible satellite imagery is 1/2 meter, provided by DigitalGlobe's Quickbird, and that's only in black/white. Color resolution will be smidge less than 3m.

I shoulda thought about it more - I beleive 3" is actually approaching or beyong the theoretical max resolution of a satellite due to light scatter in the atmoshpere (if I remember the discovery channel correctly???).

Oh well, I guess there are better ways to image than using the visble spectrum.

Thanks! Since the images are a few years old, it was kinda cool seeing the farm before we bought it, and visualizing the obvious changes we've made (two houses, a new barn, new driveways and "road" (for lack of a better word) across the farm.
