Having lost an engine in my '95 at 70K miles, and not being able to sell the carcass, I am considering putting another engine in this car (as I really liked it when it was running).

My question: Can I substitute another engine besides the 2.5L Duratech? Will the Contour 4-banger fit this automatic transmission? Is there another Ford 2.5L that might fit?
