I stand corrected on the sales figures, which, oddly I'm happy about, as it directly affects my paycheck, lol.

In regards to the sales for the Mustang only being up 19%, its mostly due to the lack of supply yet, and filling up the pipeline so to speak. In the case of this close to a new model launch, a stat that is more telling is the time to sell. Traditionally, a 30 day time is about average for most cars, the new mustang is as low as 2 days in many areas, even with some less than scrupulous dealers charging outrageous markups.

As far as the TL, I think its a fantastic car overall, and the sales don't surprise me at all. The appeal of the car is much broader than something like a Mustang (though mustang sales are usually in the 120-150k per year range) so more people are willing to go into debt for it, lol.

Does your brother work at Nummi? I'm guessing because it is one of the few auto industry ties to the Bay Area.

I grew up in the Santa Rosa area and went to High School in Antioch; I interviewed at Nummi right out of college, but decided it wasn't for me.
