DOH! Yeah I wasn't thinking but now that you mention it I knew there was a reason this didn't ring well with me. As a former LS1 owner, you are correct, the LS1 used a nodular cast iron crankshaft. In all honesty it doesn't make much sense to me financially that every engine would use a forged crankshaft as forging is a more expensive process to undertake than the casting and coating of casted metals.
