When I leased my 'dub, they told me that I could modify the car to my hearts extent, however I would pay for any modifications that were "detrimental to the resale value of the car."
good tinting=ok bad, peeling tinting= not ok. new grille=ok new lights: gray area, but probably ok as long as they're tasteful. performance chip: not ok. Why? Nixes the warranty, which kills the resale.
So they will take the car back, but can conceivably ding you with a few $k in charges. In which case, you get bridge financing, buy the car off the dealer, and flip it to someone else to pay off your loan. Simple!
