Did you guys ever think that there may be a short that makes the CEL light come on, but there is nothing wrong that would cause the CEL. We have had three other FORD cars that did this. My family members have had a GM product or two that did it too. For us, the CEL would come on, and stay on. We'd take it to the dealer, and no codes were present. In all three cases, after several trips to the dealer, they found a short in the wiring behind the gauge cluster that caused the CEL to illuminate. Once they corrected the short, everything worked fine.

Wow, judging by the list of mods you have, I wouldn't give up on your tour that easily! Idk whats wrong, but that just sounds really weird. Good luck getting it fixed!

Only way to know for sure is to pull the codes from the ECU.

Hmmm... What if you cancelled the insurance a month before it's up or before the emissions test, then reinsure it. They wouldn't test you since the due date isn't expired I've only heard this idea, not done it. (We have emissons testing) I "broke down" and humbly took it to a shop to get it aircared. They have so many tricks up their sleeve, I'd do that. One shop got my boss' 77 mifiring van to pass...

well the main problem is the gutted pre cats, even with the mil's it would fail because the dot computer in albany would think that the cats arent working properly, since theres no fluctuation(sp) as far as codes i get a mass air metering code and bank one and two low voltage codes
