I'm planning on putting some cables through a wall into the next room. I want this to look as nice as possible so that it looks "stock".

(skip this next part)
I have a phone line coming from the office room next door into this room. This house line then connects to the DSL modem, and then into my computer. My computer then has another ethernet card that goes into the switch (ooh .. I'm sharing the internet). The switch then has a cable going back to the office room.
By design I have this setup. I want to keep it this way for various reason. For you upstarts jumping at the chance to say "Buy a router!" or "Go wireless!". I do NOT want a wireless solution for myself because of latency issues. I will eventually get a real router once the room upstairs gets rid of the antiquated pentium 1. I'll then get a router with some 802.11g connections. The point is that I will always have to have a cable going from that room into this room.

ANYWAY.
(back to action)

How do I go about putting a cable through a wall?
These are my steps:
1) Use stud finder to miss a stud.
2) Drill hole in wall big enough.
3) Hope I don't get electrocuted by AC current carying wires.
4) Stick cables through holes.
5) Drink beer.

Someone out there revise my steps please so that I don't die.

Lol, go cheap like I do, and just buy the extra cord, and run it along the wall. Doesn't look great, but looks better than a hole in the wall. Today, Black Friday, was prolly the best day to buy a router if you wanted one.

No no! I have already have those 2 cables going into this room ( +1 other cable). I want to minimize this.
Yeah I wasn't into black friday. I don't like the rush. I took it easy and just chilled today. I usually work 6 days a week but I got lucky and now have 4 days off in a row!

is there an attic or basement to these rooms? and are tehy unfinished?
if so, you can find out where the walls you want to run cable through are and drill up, or down into the wall.
then you put the hole in the wall where you want it.
you can then fish wires through the hole an into the basement, or attic, then over to the other wall and down, or up into it.
thats the easiest way to do it.

If I'm understanding you correctly the two rooms share a wall? And you're essentially wanting to put a box in the second room that is "behind" or opposite the box in the first room? If that's the case then get a keyhole saw and an electrical box made for remodling. Drill a small hole in the plaster to start the saw and cut out for the box. Mount the box, fish the wire(s) and finish it off with a proper face place to plug your telephone/network wires in.
