I know you're young and all, but how many cars have you actually driven in the snow??? You said yourself you've only had your license for 2 years.

Given good tires, this is one of the best cars I've ever driven in the snow. It is very predictable, and handles very well, and responds well.

I'm sure this is a big part of your problem. You'd be surprised what some good tires would do in the snow.

Also, I'd really recommend matching tires. Its much easier to predict your cars reaction when the coefficient of friction is the same on all 4 tires.
