Thanks Dan. I respect your experience withe the Contour, it is a new car to me (although I did drive one breifly in 2000 as an Auditor for FoMoCo.)
I will take your word for it that the resonator swap can actually realize power.
My past experience with project cars (one of which was in Sport Compact Car in the mid ninties) consists of Japanese 4 cylinders. In those cars, cat back systems did not generally produce power gains.
