With the amount of money all the administrations have spent on "The war on drugs" we could have walked up to all the drug cartell's and bought-out all their poppy fields and cocaine plantations, then turned around and set fire to the lot.
But if they did this, then a bunch of people would end up with nothing to do.
It comes down to the fact that the American people like to hear there is a war on something as it makes it seem like something is getting done.
If problems get solved quickly then people will have nothing to [censored] about.
