if you are storing a car for the winter or something, i recommend Bounce dryer sheets. the original ones, not any of those funky flavors.
buy a box and place them everywhere in the car.
the trunk, interior and engine compartment.
they should keep the mice away.
i also recommend glue traps, that way the mouse gets caught and doesnt just eat some poison and crawl into your car and die.
