Would it be physically possible to drop a 2.5L Duratec and accompaning tranny into an '02 Chevy Cavalier? I know, this sounds insane, but I love the Duratec, but I cannot find a decent 'Tour in this area... I can find the engine and tranny in a junk-yard, but a whole 'Tour is just out of the question... I have the '02 Cavalier, but the engine is probably the weakest thing I have ever driven (And this includes a Mitsubishi Mirage...), and I would hate to get rid of it because it has extensive exterior mods and sweet alloy rims. Anyhoo, if I sound like an idiot asking, let it slide... I just worked 14 hours on a few hours sleep =). Thanks =).

Of course someone will say that it possible if you have a lot of money. BUT it will be very difficult. Very hard to swap powertrain from one manufacturer and put it in an another. Nothing fits, shifter emplacement, all wirings for dash and electrical, mounts, etc.

IMO i would try searching for another tour, even if it's nt closer from where you live.

Nic.

You are better off dropping a S/C 3.8L with tranny into the J-body.

There is even a big after market for the Ecotec...they like turbo's too. I wouldn't mess with trying to get the duratec in there...if you are going to that much trouble...the car just wouldn't be worth it IMO.

I know.

The wife won't let me do it though.

Eibach pro-kit and some bolt ons is all she'd let me do...

Infinitely better then a stock Z24 and I know it's just her commuter car but still...
The 3.8L gets good mileage in O/D cruising...

I LOVED that 3800 in the 02 Regal I had. Super smooth, awesome power, tons of potential, and quality/reliability to boot.....

i was originally going to buy a s\c regal but couldn't come up with the cash, so i bought my tour.

i have considdered picking up a malibu with the 3.1 and attempting to put a 3.8s\c in it, but that'll have to wait for some money, what a sleeper that would be .
