In any case, whether it be bias or if they're just looking to sensationalize, the media coverage tweaked a lot of details from what the tapes show to emphasize their points.

I think you need to clearly look at the video again. It looks like the black girl with the Piston jersey was either pointing at Artest OR was the one who THREW the drink at him.

The fact of the matter is. If you throw any object at me and we are not playing. Then, I am going straight to your chin.

It is just you.

That fan was trying to help his boy. His boy was the first idiot that tried to step to Artest and Artest promptly dispatched that clown. When the first fool fell. Fat boy tried to get "buck" and JON straight slump the fool to the ground.

actually, you could both be arrested for battery; you moreso than him. you have the right to defend yourself in an equal amount of force. someone throws a drink at you does not equate to you punching him. what would your defense in court be? self-defense? i dont think that would fly. you were partially correct in your statement. the law does allow you to defend yourself if you feel a battery is imminent. so, i guess in that sense it could possibly be justified. in the basketball player's situation, he could not say that he felt a battery was imminent. IMO the guy deserved to get decked!
i was cracking up when that guy came onto the court and was ready to throw down. kinda like that little annoying kid challenging the school bully at lunch. that guy was trespassing by stepping onto the court and im sure he'll be tossed into the clink. too bad he'll still probably get a Mil for it. i dont remember where, i think on the back of the ticket, it says at Dodger stadium it is a violation of an LA civil code to go onto the field during a game and you WILL be arrested for it.

When I was 14 I didn't run onto NBA courts looking for fights. Besides, I didn't know who have to check for ID before you knock someone out.

None of those fans have any chance of getting any money from ANY of those players. The FANS were clearly in the wrong on this one.

they showed that guy's face from the front nice and clear on the news, nice big fat moustache. i dont think he was 14, then again, i already had a bit of stache when i was 14..
nah, but you could clearly see he was an adult.
if he wasn't an adult, whoever was chaperoning him should be slapped for letting him run up there like that.

I'll put a grand on the table that says you're wrong. You'd be flat-out amazed at what a halfway decent lawyer can do. I'm smelling settlements out the ass here.

I definitely don't think either party was right, but man the Detroit fans need to ratchet things back a notch.

I swear in 10 years you'll go to an NBA game with a 40 ft. bulletproof plexiglass perimeter around the entire f**king court just to keep crap like this from EVER happening...

I hope some of the pukes in the crowd that were throwing things are PERMANENTLY banned from EVER setting foot in another NBA game. Period.

That should send a message.

Artest is totally in the wrong. Dude needs some serious anger management. The bottom line is that you have to look at the game situation. double digit lead with under a minute to go. You dont foul someone like that. That's how you end someones career. Ben Wallace's reaction was Much like baseball where you have to stand up for yourself and not allow yourself to be intimidated when the opponent throws at you. Bottom line is that it will sell tickets. If these teams meet in the playoffs it will be crazy. On par with sox yanks of the past couple of years!!! Personally i think it was great entertainment!!!
