One thing that has to be considered (that still does not excuse what the fans did), the fans may not have realized someone hit Artest with the beverage. It was just that first isolated incident that triggered everything. But they did see the players jumping into the stands.
In any case, whether it be bias or if they're just looking to sensationalize, the media coverage tweaked a lot of details from what the tapes show to emphasize their points.
