Is there a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the engine? The Haynes Repiar Manual just speaks of a "Engine identification number". Do anyone know where on the engine (v 6 svt) it is? I want to verify that the engine is the swapped engine represented.

should be on a little plate on the front of the frame when you pop your hood.. Closer to the driver side headlight. OR you can look in your windshield on the driver side closer to the windshield wipers.. OR you can look on the driver side door on the stocker between the inside and outside sill of the door.

He is looking specifically for the VIN on the engine, so he can compare it to a car that it allegedly came from. No you will not find a vin number on your engine.

There is engine identification information on a white tag on the right side of the front valve cover on a V6. If you know how to read it, it provides information that tells the factory when and where the engine was built and just what engine it is. This may be what some think of as and "engine VIN".

Provided of course the valve cover matches the engine.

Other then that there are casting dates imprinted on both the block and heads. They are right by the part numbers for the respective parts which basically have the date, revision, application, et cetera incorporated into it.
I have pictures of the head numbers in the porting pages on my website. (Exhaust section)
