You switch the system on by flipping two switches. One for the nitrous and the tranny modification (I substitute a 10 ohm resister for the EPC circuit, this makes the tranny run at max line pressure), the other is for the computer chip. The chip has two programs, one for street and one for nitrous. On the street side, the engine management is set for max performance. With good timing and fuel maps for power and performance. The nitrous side takes a ton of timing out to keep the motor safe under fire. It also runs the motor rich and shortshifts the tranny a couple of hundred rpm.
