If those cars are ugly than take away my ability to judge a good looking car! Done right I think they are the sweetest looking cars one can do up.

Regarding XR4Ti's at Carlisle, I took the top prize in 1998 at the All Ford Nationals with one of my XR4Ti's (I've had 6) out of 1800 cars entered that year. The top prize isn't for the best car though, it's for the person who contributes the most to the show or goes through the most to get there. To make a very long story short, I hit a moose at 70 mph, wrote the car off (still looked great) about 500 miles outside Carlisle, kept going and got there 15 minutes before registration closed. I'm looking at the trophy and plaque in my office at this very moment.

Regards, Alan

6!!!!!! Holy crap. Do you still own one? Send the pics to todras@yahoo.com and I'll host them.

Todd, I've sent 6-8 pictures and will send a few more when I'm at my other computer.

The pearl white RS Cosworth in Austria is the one I had the pleasure to drive for about 30 minutes in 1997.

The MAC Tools race car was one of Jack Roush's.

There are two photos of Tamiya models of the Road Racing RS500's (I've got both models). The black one is one that won the World Group A Championship in 1988 IIRC, the team won it back-to-back in 87 and 88. These cars made 480 HP back then pushing less then 3,000 lbs.

Rara, I'm likely older than you and that would account for doubling your total. I bought my first one new in 1987 and immediately took in on vacation, visiting John Colletti along the way. I sold my last two XR4Ti's (87 & 89) in 2003 when medical problems made it difficult to do my own mechanical work (10-15 yr old cars, especially Merkurs need regular work).

When I sold them I bought my Mystique and after a few sessions on the track and being able to pass BMW's with my "little Ford" I was hooked and last year bought a great 98 SVT in MD and two weeks ago after barrell rolling the 98 on the track @ 100 mph (leaking outer rear brake caliper put brake fluid all over the outside rear tire in a 100+ mph turn) I picked up a nice 99 SVT that will be getting my 98's Go-Fast parts. I actually saw three of my old XR4Ti's last night when I was at my mechanic's home where I've got the SVT's. He got one there to do an engine rebuild and the other two are ones I traded to him for mechanical work .

Regards, Alan
