Welcome to CEG. Do you happen to have the code that they gave you? You could search on this site for the procedures to repair. IIRC, the Intake Manifold Runner Code is usually a result of sticking secondaries or broken mounts that hold the linkage. (Easy DIY Job).
It will def. make a difference in acceleration to have it working correctly.
Don't ever ignore the CEL if it starts blinking!
