Ok, so I walk in from work today and see my new insurance statement on the table. I open it up, and I almost fell out of my chair! Insurance on the SVT went up like $20 a month...no big deal, but the insurance on my 92 Explorer is a different story. When I put it on the policy lasy year, I was paying $68 a month ($688/yr 10 month policy, liability only). Well, this year they saw fit to raise the premium to $2400 a year!!!!! What!?!? I could see raising it a few dollars...even up to $100 a month would be acceptable, but to QUADRUPLE the cost of insurance is insane! Can they do this?? I can't even begin to fathom what brought this on. Now, some of you may say tickets on my record. Ok, fine, but all but one ticket is off my record, and the insurance on my contour is the cheapest it's ever been ($350 a month at one point). They have told me that they are charging the highest premium on the SVT that they can charge me ($241/mo) so I really can't imagine how a 12-13 year old car could have a higher premium. I seriously hope this is a mistake, I'm going to call in the morning. If it's not I really don't know what I am going to do. I know i've been talking about selling the SVT lately, but I don't want to be forced to take it off the street and not enjoy it until it's gone...yet still have to make payments on it. This is ridiculous. I really cannot afford $500+ a month in insurance though.

Check your statement carefully. Make sure all the information is correct.
If it is, ask your insurance company why the amount quadrupled. If you are not satisfied with the answer, switch insurance companies.

One time my bill went up over $600 I called and said WTF is with you people. They realized they had messed up and put my moms names in the wrong credit score they put her in the worst, instead of the best one. So that was the reason. They fixed it and it went up like $50 or $60. Anyways got the bill the other day this time over $500 for no reason. Didnt even bother to call. We just switched companies.
Figured if they dont care enough to make sure everything is right then we dont care enough to have coverage through them.

my parents have no reason to switch, the rates on the cars they drive are great. a policy in ny under my own name would probably be 3500-3800 for just liability on one car. this is criminal.
