I think mine was produced somewhere around the end of 98. I haven't looked at it in a while. I had heard the white ones are better, but I still didn't want to take chances and get stuck somewhere. I remember a year or 2 ago some guy with a 2000 contour with only 30-40 thousand (somewhere in there I thought) had one fail on him so I decided it must be done. Now I am gonna have the system flushed along with the power steering system. You could probably get the dealer to get that part from napa, but they would charge you more for it. I doubt they would put it in if you went and bought one and handed it to them. Even if you had the white one put in, you should be fine for quite a while.
