Okay, i drink a soda (can or bottle) every single day on my way to work. Now the 99 svt and probably every other contour has raunchy cup holders. Twice yes twice my soda cans have tipped over and spilled every where during a turn!! Well i was cleaning up and decided to take out the rubber inserts to wipe under them. When i yanked out the left one a big chunk of plastic came with it... so now the cup holder is deeper. I tried to do the same on the right side but it didnt occur? Anyway ever since the left side has been deeper none of my sodas have spilled! Anyone else stumble upon this?

I tried it on mine, but my large coffee still rattles about and spills.
I just use the rear cup holder instead.

The rubber inserts for my cup holders come right out. The one on the left is much deeper. I can't really complain tho. The Cup holder on my last car (92 Grand Prix) was the backside of the glove box door where there was a slight circular recession. But then again, if your driving, you're too busy to drink....right?

I refer y'all to this topic (Rawburt - you posted in said topic so you should know this!)

As for me, bottled water and 20oz soda is where it's at! Medium and large sodas from fast-food places seem to fit fine as well. 12oz cans are too thin to fit without wobbling.

I converted mine to the late 99-00 style with the factory kit. It was about $12.00 to $15.00 at the time. Bill Jenkins sold a lot of them to us CEGers.

It fits all of the 98 and newer Contiques. It makes the cup holder taller. Basically you remove the rubber inserts and install the new taller thing that fits over both holes. As lousey as the original 98+ cup holders are, this is a huge improvement.
