Recently I have found a small ding on the left-rear quarter panel. It has a small chip out of the paint, which I can touch-up. What I'm worried about is the small ding. Should I take it to a body shop, or try to tap it out myself? (If I can get behind it) If I do need to have this done professionally, how much should I expect to pay? Any input is greatly appreciated.

There are plenty of paintless dent removal places that can do it for less than a body shop. Be carefull trying to DIY. Metal often looks like it'll pop right out and then you try to push it from behind and it doesn't. (Personal experience ) Those paintless dent removal places often times use wierd looking tools which are designed to massage the metal back into postion, not necessarily just pop it back into position. About price, I'm not sure depends on the position & size I suppose. But an estimate is free no matter where you go. Good luck!

Ryan.. I had a few dents removed from my car about 2 years ago by PRESS-A-DENT and they charge $40 per dent. Since I was working for Ford at the time and I had 3 dents, I believe he only charged me for 2 dents.. So you should be able to git-r-done for $40-50 I'd say.

It is best if you have a friend who knows who does this sort of thing. I had several dents removed that they were there when I first bought my car. My friend only charged me $50 to pop out about 5-6 dents.

the paintelss dent removal places work.. my sisters friend hit my sisters rx8 on the front passenger side fender and there was a huge dent.the dent cause this little body line to get smashed too. the mazda dealer told her that the paintless place wont be able to restore the stock look the and bodyline will be gone, but they did an awesome job for 90 bucks and restored the original bodyline..it was either 90 for the paintless place or 600 at the dealership

Anyone have any luck with one of those "As seen On T.V." suction cup dent removal doodads? You know the one where you smear some type of magical clear stuff on the dent and stick a Garfield stuffed animal window suction cup looking thing to it...pull back...and presto chango dent is gone. Just a thought. Think they can be had for about $20 in the mall around here.

lol I used to love those 'ding king' commercials. I doubt any of that crap works.

i got two of those from auto zone for 10$ they only work on a dent the same size as or larger than the surface area of the suction cup. you may wanna try there...... my dumba$$ brother in law had hit a semi in my old car and the dent was removed in no time using that cup.

Ive heard stories of putting dry ice on a dent after the car has been sitting in the sun and the dent will pop out. Myth or fact?
