Adding the resonator won't do much to the hp or tq curve, but it will attenuate the annoying drone you get from replacing it with just a straight pipe.
To be honest, the stock resonator is nothing but a big restriction, but replacing it with a Magnaflow resonator is the way to go as you lose nothing but the annoying drone. It won't sacrifice any power or torque.
