Well, seeing as winter is on it's way, at least for those of us in the Northern parts, I thought maybe it was time for another winter beater post. Seems a fair number of us here park our tours for the winter and drive some form of alternate transportation, so let's see em! i'll start with my new one for this winter. 86 Astro Van, bought for $100, needed a fuel line and a brake line, and interior (since I haul poeple often). Total investment so far, including spray paint and materials for the paint job is right around $500. Still need new rear tires and maybe a fuel pump as a precaution.
Decided to add just a couple more.

my beater is an 87 bronco 2
got it for fre w/ blown head gaskets, fixed it and it runs great
i might sell it and get a 93 geo prism w/ a blown engine, also for free. 30 mpg seems really nice right about now
ill try to take pics of the bornco tomorrow

I will post pics if someone can host them for me. My beater is a 1993 Mazda 626 2.5L V6, it's fully loaded, lowered on B&G springs, has a Spec stage 3 clutch, a B&M short throw shifter, and a cold air intake that goes down to the bottom of the car. For sound I got 300watt Polk Audio 6x9's in the rear, 2 12inch JL Audio W0's with a Rockford Fosfgate 500BD amp. I might put my indash tv inthere if it doesn't get sold  Aaron

Well the pics don't do my winter beater any justice as it looks better in the pics then it does in person, so it is indeed a true "beater"   Ofcoarse it has mods! Silverstar highs in the low beam socket, remote starter (already on the car when we got it), painted muffler and tip and aftermarket cassette player (also, already there when we got it  ) Currently it has 110K on the clock and runs fine, now that my wife and I have spent almost $3K on it since June of 03'. More than likely, the car will be for sale in the summer of 05' if I get my AWD car to replace my CSVT, either an EVO/STi or the new Merc Montego w/ AWD  ...or the car will not be for sale if I were to get the new Mustang
